Fryeburg Fair and the Maine Christmas Tree Association annually sponsor the All New England Christmas Tree and Wreath competition during fair week. Judging is based on guidelines established by the National Christmas Wreath Association.

There are four categories for Christmas Trees: Balsam Fir, All Other Fir, Pine and Spruce. The two wreath categories are Decorated and Undecorated. Premiums are paid for the top places starting at $50 for first and decreasing in $5 increments. The Grand Champion tree is paid $60 and the Reserve $40. The wreath winner earns $26 with a $2 decrease for each place through fifth. Entries are due the day before the fair opens, which this year is Sept. 28.
