Night Show Entertainer's Information

Timeliness

We take pride in punctuality. Night Shows begin at 8:00pm sharp. The crowd has been conditioned to expect this and often starts chanting at 8:02! Shows should be timed to end at 9:00pm with one encore carrying the time to 9:15pm

Stage Crew:

Our stage crew is headed by "BEAR," who brings considerable experience to the Fair. Bear has coordinated concerts all over America. All road managers should contact him in advance of arrival to review specific needs.

Stage:

Our stage is actually a customized mobile home with a drop down front added. Due to the harness racing program, the stage is stored on the far
side of the racetrack and pulled in front of the grandstand daily at the conclusion of the racing. The size is: 20' deep x 36' long with 40 square feet occupied by the
on-stage mixing board. Entry is from the back with a small area (6' x 8') kitty-cornered on each side.

Sound and Lights:

Sound and lights are provided by the ATS Sound Company. Bear will coordinate any unusual requests with ATS.

Volume:

We have an unusual situation with our metal roofed grandstand. The construction is such that it "cups" the sound and actually amplifies it. It is often louder in the stands than in front of the stage. Our audience is middle-aged and older and extremely sensitive to excessive volume. At their request we are obligated to impose a sound pressure (volume) limit for all performances. Your understanding and cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

Average Performance SPL Level . . . 95db (A wtd)
Peak Levels (Less than 5 seconds) . . . 100db (A wtd)
Levels will be measured and recorded at the FOH mixing position using a
Klark-Teknik DN 6000 or similar Real Time Analyser.

Getting Here:

Weekend traffic can be a monumental problem. Rumors of eight hour trips up Route 16 are founded in fact not fiction. Entertainers should consider staying in Portland, Maine the night before a weekend performance. The time to the Fair would then be about 11/2 hours.

The Route is: Follow Route 302 through the town of Bridgton. Ten miles west of Bridgton you will cross "Moose Pond" via a causeway. After the causeway, take your first right turn onto the Knight's Hill Road and follow it to the end. At the stop sign, turn left. Go approximately 100 yards to Route 5 and turn left. Follow Route 5 for approximately 15 miles. The first gate you come to will be the Red Gate.

Night Show entertainers should identify themselves to the first security guard they encounter on Route 5. Ask to be directed to the Red Gate and when you get there wait for Bear or Kevin to direct you to the holding area. Your vehicle will be positioned next to our mobile stage.Local Lodging:

If you require rooms, arrange for them early. Again, Portland is easiest. Other areas nearby include Bridgton, ME and North Conway, NH. There are links to the various Chambers of Commerce on our web site www.freyburgfair.com.

Payment:

A check will be made out to the entertainer or agency and cashed after endorsement. We require a tax form to be completed with the Tax Identification Number of the corporation. Payment is made at the conclusion of the concert.

Souvenirs Etc:

The Fair does not, as a rule, ask for a percentage of souvenir sales. We appreciate 4 extra large tees for the most devoted fans and an autographed picture for the Office wall where we have a growing collection. In addition, the Stage crew looks for an autographed picture and will provide the road manager with the names.

Food and Beverage:

The Fair does not provide food and beverage for entertainers. Arrangements can be made with the booking agency if desired. Most entertainers enjoy walking the grounds before the concert where you can find every type of food imaginable. Following the concert, Midway owner, Bud Gilmore invites the band to his hospitality tent known as the "Oasis." Here you'll find an open bar and home-cooked meals. The "Oasis" is secluded and Security can escort entertainers to the tent.
