Fryeburg Fair honors Davidsons for 50 years of showing sheep

Jim and May Davidson of Round Pond were honored for 50 years showing sheep at Fryeburg Fair. The couple was given a cake following the Open championship Oct. 5, 2006 and again during the Grand Parade Oct. 7. It is through the efforts of the Davidsons that the fair's sheep show has become one of the prestigious sheep shows in New England. They have raised and shown several breeds but are best known for their North Country Cheviot Sheep. Through their career, they have sheared more than 5,000 sheep each spring at farms from Cape Cod to the Canadian border.
